Soul Food 4 Thought
Spiritual Vitamin:
Why does God allow good things to happen to bad people? Or the opposite!
We all have witnessed both perplexing questions in ours or someone else life very often. To shed some light, in the book of Psalms which caused much distress to his (Asaph) soul and prompted him to write “But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” They have no struggles, their bodies are healthy and strong, they are free from burdens, and they are not plaque with human ills.
He, Asaph was a leader and wealthy man who had dedicated his life to that of serving GOD. Like many of us he didn’t however, exempt from hardships and difficulties in which he questioned the unfairness of it all. How often have we seen mean spirited, downright sinister people living amongst us beat to their own drum, make their own rules, while enjoying the life of the wealthy and all the pleasures that comes with it. It’s baffling to say the least! No struggles, life is just peachy.. Family is very much intact and overall health is splendid!!! Leaves you to ponder and scratch your head…. Wow! What’s their secret, right?
Looking at these people with no problems, nothing could be more repulsive. Here I am doing all the right things, serving God, helping others etc; to add insult to injury, all the good seeds you sow seems impertinent As a result, you began to envy, even more, question GOD as to why he would allow this to be so. We can certainly relate to Asaph situation. We commit to serving God, but all around us we witness the wicked and ungodly sporting fancy cars, luxury homes, high paying careers, expensive clothes and jewels, while we can barely scrap up the money to pay the electric bills.
The point to which I shall call your attention lies within the rest of the chapter in Psalms. We must realize the one very important thing as Asaph did. The things they acquire here on earth is not nearly as important as their final destiny.. Surely you place them on slippery ground and you cast them down in ruin. For the bible declares “How suddenly are they destroyed, swept away by terrors! As a dream when one awakes, so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies. They who have temporary riches on earth are in reality spiritual beggars because they do not have eternal true riches – Eternal Life!!
Many times we do not understand what is happening around us, nor do we understand the manifestation of Gods foresight. Like Asaph, when he entered the sanctuary of God, we must realize there is no need to envy the superficial prosperity of the unjust it’s really an illusion. The bible declares “that a rich man will not enter into the gates of heaven.” In fact, it’s easier for a camel to go thru the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into the kingdom. WHOA!!! That’s an eye opener for ya.. Satan is only playing tricks with our minds and our vision, distracting us from the true reality of GOD. The prosperity of the wicked is nothing more than an evanescent fulfillment, a fashion show sure to fade away, just like pleasant dreams which pleases us but for a little while, then we awaken to realize it was not reality. Focus your thoughts on your own happiness in God and see how much more joy and fulfillment, true spiritual prosperity is in him the maker and creator of all things.
In closing, the practical inference from all this is we may not have all we want here on earth but you can sure believe one day you will prosper for all eternity through Jesus Christ our Lord. When tempted to try the other street remember it to has a dead end. The word states, “The narrow road before us through Christ Jesus is AWESOME and the only road that leads to eternal life. That should be your joy and salvation. Who have I in heaven but you and earth has nothing I desire besides you. Those far from you will perish and the unjust to be destroyed. For me, it’s good to be near GOD where there is sovereign in the lord, my refuge. It’s futile; to concern yourself with what is happening, good or bad in the lives of evil people. I encourage you to keep focus on the maker and creator, entering into his presence with thanksgiving every day through his holy word. It is there where you shall find peace, happiness, contentment and all the spiritual riches your heart and soul can hold eternally…
